In criminal cases, there is the option of public defense. The costs of the lawyer are then covered by the state treasury. However, in the event of a conviction, the state treasury will usually demand reimbursement of these costs.
If the court or the public prosecutor’s office has already informed you that you can find a lawyer of your choice as a public defender, you no longer need to apply for the appointment of a public defender. If you have not received such a notification, you can apply for a public defense lawyer from us. The prerequisite for this is the existence of a case of necessary defense.
Cases of necessary defense exist, for example, if the accused is charged with a crime, if the proceedings may lead to a ban on practicing a profession or if protective proceedings are being conducted.
